Time for A Jumpsuit?

For any season!

I recently read one of Leandra Medine Cohen’s newsletters on substack and she described where she was writing which I thought was interesting. So I’m doing the same…I’m on a floating egg chair in the Cotswolds, eyeing a suspicious looking dark cloud – although the forecast said sun all day!

I bought a jumpsuit at the start of spring and have worn it on repeat throughout summer. They are comfy and easy to wear. It’s a case of putting it on and being ready to go. Whereas a dress can be fussy, the jumpsuit is flattering and feminine without being over the top.

Jumpsuit in the CotswoldsThe one I’m wearing in the photos is oversized and billowy. It has a belt to tie around a few times to cinch in the waist. I think it could be worn without the belt, but I’ve only done this in the house. It’s probably more flattering with the belt, it has a definite kimono vibe.

A quick Google for jumpsuits and there are a few main styles. I prefer one that is oversized and flowy. Rather than the boiler suit version although Lucy and Yak do a huge selection of boilersuits and dungarees if that is more your style.

JumpsuitOmi Na Na is a brand I’ve recently come across, the Elea print jumpsuit is a beauty. It’s made from modal, one of my fave fabrics at the moment. It’s softer than cotton but still feels quite cottony for lack of a better word. The jumpsuit is made to order so it obviously takes longer to arrive but means the brand can significantly cut down their waste. Sizing is just up to a UK14 which is disappointing, especially since the garments are made to order.

The Nancy Jumpsuit from Plümo is a showstopper and currently on sale. Plümo is an independent shop selling ethically made designs. I love the 1940s flowy design of the Nancy and the velvet jumpsuits are spot on. I’m hoping they still have them in stock in winter. I can see myself flouncing around in a velvet jumpsuit organising a party Suzie with a glass of sherry.

JumpsuitJumpsuitWhen styling a jumpsuit, I’ve been keeping it as simple as possible during the summer. I’m wearing a pair of flat slingbacks here in the images. In autumn as the weather cools. I’m going to try a black polo neck underneath. I have a thin merino wool one for layering. Anything layered on top is only going to make toilet breaks too time consuming. I’m also thinking of wearing socks with shoes, tights underneath and boots to defeat the cold.

The images are taken on a new to me vintage camera. I bought one in Berlin and after three years of bobbing around in my handbag, the self timer finally gave up the ghost. As luck would have it I found the exact same model in a secondhand camera shop online.

I finally tried the Uncommon wine spritz in a can that I talked about here. After visiting a palace in the Cotswolds, they were selling them in the gift shop of all places. I can recommend both the white wine and rose wine spritzer for an afternoon in the garden. It’s English wine made using English grapes and certified B Corp. And the can designs are as cute as I thought they’d be.
