The flax plant is used to produce linen. Initially, the stems were used for basket weaving long before the fibre was used to make textiles. Cultivation of the flax plant has been widespread in Europe, The Middle East and Africa. The ancient Egyptians used it to dress if they could afford it. Linen had a resurgence in the 1990s as people began to take more care about the ecological impact of textiles and clothes. Moreover, linen is very easy to grow, launder and wear. Also, it is durable and resilient to mould – if it is stored clean and dry and is breathable.
A timeless dress with a pretty sash to tie around the waist. It comes in this bright mustard colour or you can choose from twenty-three other colours. It’s handmade in Ukraine using medium weight linen.
A simple dress that can be worn any time of the year but would look especially cute in autumn with tights and boots. It comes in lots of different colours and is handmade in Europe.
A cute stripey dress made from Lithuanian linen. It can be layered with a top and tights underneath for the colder days. It features side pockets and is handmade in the UK.
A loose midi dress with a buttoned up front and side pockets. The image shows lavender linen but it is also available in twenty-two other colours too. It’s handmade using soft OEKO-TEX linen from Europe.
A midi dress featuring a pin tuck detail on the back and a ruffle on the front. It comes in this golden yellow or a darker grey. Linen Naive dye their own linen to make these pretty colours.
A victorian style dress and image but the dress could be styled to look modern! It’s made from European linen in France.
A wrap dress is flattering for most body shapes, this checked one is made from 100% linen. It comes in sizes XXS to XXL and is made in Lithuania.
A black linen shirt dress with an unfinished hem. It also comes in loads of different colours. Kinzzza makes all their pieces in a family studio in Ukraine.
It’s another wrap dress but I had to include it because it’s so pretty! It’s handmade in the UK.
This is a favourite of mine. I’ve been wearing it all summer and autumn. I’ll continue to wear it into the winter with tights and boots. It’s a cotton jersey on the top and linen on the bottom. Super comfy!
