Whose afraid of the big bad wolf...the fish?..

September 3rd 2008 01:19
Seems that wolves are keen to up their input of essential omega fats..perhaps to increase their brain power?

A study published in this weeks BMC Ecology shows that when salmon are in season, they can account for up to 70% of a wolves diet. The researchers found this out by collecting mucho wolf poop and sorting out it's contents...the joy of being a biologist...

Aside from boosting their brain power, the researchers suggest that eating fish is a safer option for the supposedly fearsome canines..attacking larger prey, such as moose and deer can result in serious injury to the wolves - whereas poor fishy can but wiggle once caught....
