Weeping Willows - and some trees weep ...

November 19th 2010 11:55
The Weeping Willow is a large, magnificent, distinctive tree.

Weeping Willows are easily recognised because of their long, thin, drooping branches which flow gracefully in the breeze.

Weeping Willows are popular because they grow quickly and provide shade, especially for animals.

Weeping Willows are seen mostly growing near rivers, ponds, lakes and other wet areas but can thrive in drier places because of their extensive root systems.
They adapt to all kinds of soil conditions and can help prevent soil erosion.
Weeping Willows can grow to be 30 metres wide.
They lose their leaves in late Autumn and sprout fresh, green shoots again in Spring.

***There's a time for smiling ...
and a time for weeping***
