The Past Week….

I feel so thankful that we moved house last month. It wasn’t our choice to move, but I trusted that it would work out. And now we are mostly confined to the house, we have a garden to roam about in. In Berlin, that is such a rare thing. Most of the housing is apartment blocks which are often beautiful but not always stay at home all day friendly.

I’ve been going out each morning to walk our dogs. We have some lakes nearby, and if I go early enough, it’s not overrun with joggers. The bright sunshine and nature have helped calm me.

While this situation is complicated, a positive I’ve noticed is I spend more time talking to my family and friends from back home. My family, in particular, know I’m terrible at staying in touch. But this month I’ve spoken to my grandmother more than any other recent time I can remember. I initially ring her to check she is ok, but her wise words calm me as no other’s can.

My outfits this week show the discrepancy in my moods. I presume most of you can relate. I’ve gone from extreme low and despair to gratefulness for being safe and healthy.

I’ve appreciated the small things a lot more these past few days. The early morning dog walks, my daily workout, sunshine on the terrace. It’s been freezing in Berlin but I can time it right with the sunshine and it can feel like a hot summers day. I’ve baked brownies for the first time in around ten years and, you never know, I might finally finish that knitting project I started over a year ago.
