Blushing Spider Orchid - things are not always as they appear
November 25th 2010 06:31
Last September we were venturing forth on a mini wild flower tour when we stopped and went on a discovery walk along the road verge on the Brand Highway, near Cataby, Western Australia.
We were thrilled to discover this cluster of Spider Orchids.
Enquiries to have them identified have revealed these Spider Orchids are probably hybrids.
The Blushing Spider Orchid hybridises with the Daddy-Long-Legs Spider Orchid if the two are growing together. The cluster of Spider Orchids we found could be a cross between these two orchids.
The following photo is of The Blushing Spider Orchid.
Compare the photos and see if you can spot the difference.
