Musings

June 23rd 2009 17:08

I've set up my blog, now it's ready for content. Content will be mostly my opinions on various topics important to me and to many other Seniors going through the same trials and tribulations I am. You all have your opinions, so jump in anytime with what you would like to say. I welcome differing opinions.

After fifty years of marriage, my husband and I have reached those twilight years that are supposed to be the best years of our lives. I do love the retirement scene, but without the Internet, I would have absolutely nothing to do to challange my mind.

I turned to writing a little more than six months ago and it has been a Godsend. I found a wonderful site where I can make friends, write stories, join groups, have and enter contests and have learned, with my little laptop and the Internet, I can travel the whole world, which was something I never got to do when I was younger. I have made friends with similar interests around the world.

I have written novels, stories, paradies, articles, and though I have never been an outgoing personality, I find I always have something to say, and for the first time in my life, I actually find I have some people ready to listen. That's neat.

I'm still learning the 'ins' and 'outs' of Blogging, so please bear with me. This is basically an introduction and I hope to actually have something to say soon. Until I do, you might want to check me out at: http://storywrite.com/Tricia3

... with my little laptop and the Internet, I can travel the whole world ...

It's true isn't it, and I'm definitely old enough still to consider it a wonder.

And the internet, and blogging in particular, has done something equally amazing for publishing. As Dick Costolo, of the Feedburner media distribution group, put it, "The Internet destroyed most of the barriers to publication. The cost of being a publisher dropped to almost zero with two interesting immediate results: anybody can publish, and more importantly, you can publish whatever you want."

Anyway, welcome to Orble and the world of blogging

Hi Trish, I did finally get here. Finding my way around a new site is a bit tricky for an old guy who is not techie minded. I hope you are having fun here. It seems pretty darn good to me.

Cheers

Bob

Hi Trish,

Who knows? We may well bump into each other as we both travel the corridors of Orble.
I'm still trying to find my feet (and readers) and I wish you the best of luck in this new venture.

Best wishes

Lawrie
